For his contributions to Qualcomm Snapdragon, and China semiconductor industry
Dr. Ke Xu got the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering Department from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, in 2000 and 2003, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007. He was also the Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in University of Toronto in 2009.
He served various senior roles as Staff/Algorithm Engineer, Chip Architect, Research Scientist, in different companies from startups to Fortune 500 such as IBM and Qualcomm, in China, Canada and USA. Currently he is the AI Chief Scientist and Director of Engineering in ZTE Microelectronics, which is the 3rd largest fabless design company in China. He is also the Deputy Director of Multimedia Branch in State Key Laboratory of Mobile Network and Mobile Multimedia Technology, as well as member of the central committee of China Zhi Gong Party. He joined Qualcomm in 2012 as key R&D member for Snapdragon 805/810/820/835 development in San Diego, USA, where he was in charge of artificial intelligence, video, and image signal processing system. His contributions lead to more than 100M chip sales world-wide for most-advanced Android mobile phones. After more than 10 years life abroad in Hong Kong, Canada, and USA, he decided to return to China to help its semiconductor industry. He joined ZTE Microelectronics in 2015 as AI Chief Scientist and Director of Engineering, where he is in charge of AI, autonomous driving, AR/VR, and multimedia chip designs. His contributions lead to more than 100M chip sales and multi-billion revenues for ZTE. As a member of Zhi Gong Party, he worked with Wan Gang, the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference to boost Chinese semiconductor industry, especially after China-United States trade war.
