Description

I joined the exchange program organized by CUHK OAL to Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

The learning experience in Nanyang, from my perspective, is undoubtedly more modern. The fruit of technology development was well utilized. Most courses in Nanyang technological university convert the lecture into small videos online. This teaching style brings convenience to students and lecturers. We could have lectures wherever and whenever. We did not need to arrange a quiz time that is suitable to the whole class. However, there is a tradeoff between convenience and others. The communication between professors, tutors and students drops notably. And things could get worse because most of the courses provided were taught by two professors, which means the communication time was halved again.

This exchange experience in Nanyang technological university gave me an opportunity to try another type of learning process. Indeed, I have taken one course that is “flip class” in CUHK. So it is not something that I never took before. However, instead of “still exploring”, Nanyang’s e-learning is mature and has already become customary in university life. Therefore, it really gave me a varying feeling about e-learning.

Studying at Nanyang Technological University broadened my knowledge and expanded my horizons. I value this experience and the friends I met in Singapore.
